Take the Sky Road – Exhibition August 11th

The Sky Road is a place you might end up if you go to the west of Galway and then keep going west until you run out of road. It is just one of the incredible parts of Ireland’s coastline featuring in this new exhibition. Opening on Saturday August 11th, the exhibition will run for one week at The Gaslamp Gallery in Gorey.

Catching the Last Rays

“The Irish Summer” is exhibiting at The Gaslamp Gallery from Friday 4th to Saturday 12th September.

For more info on viewing the exhibition please visit the gallery’s page here.

To most the Irish summer is a thing of myths and legends, a flash of light glimpsed rarely by a lucky few. These paintings form a different story, told through the eyes of an artist whose favourite colours are found only in the hearts of the mightiest clouds. It is a tale of the never-ending battle between light and dark that can pack a season’s-worth of colour into a single day…twice.

This is the story of one such day. A bright, cool, calm, cloudy, wet, warm, windy, dry day where each side has its moments of glory. The light may be the traditional peoples favourite, but this is a challenge to explore a darker, but arguably richer side of the season.

The landscapes and seascapes of Dublin, Wicklow, and Wexford are beautiful whether they are glowing under the sun or freshly washed by rain. Much of the inspiration for this collection was gathered by simply waiting and watching, producing paintings only minutes apart in time but at opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of colour and light. There is a reason we spend so much time talking about the weather – it’s always up to something.

The SCOOP Charity Art Auction

On Sunday October 14th at 3pm this painting and many others will be auctioned to raise funds for the SCOOP (Save Children Out Of Poverty) Foundation, a charity based in Dublin. It should be a great chance to support a worthy cause and see the work of a wide range of artists.

The exhibition and auction will be launched with a free drinks reception on Thursday 27th of September in the Ormonde Wine Bar on Ormonde Quay, Dublin. Even if you can’t make it on one of these days, the paintings are already on display in the bar.

For more information about the foundation check out SCOOP’s website.

Greenacres Open Submission Show

From the 4th to the 26th of February I will be exhibiting alongside many other artists at the Greenacres Open Submission Show in Wexford town. The official opening will be at 12 noon on Saturday the 4th and all are welcome. The gallery is located on Selskar St. in Wexford town, along with a restaurant and coffee shop. More details of the gallery can be found at www.greenacres.ie/art-galleries

New Paintings for tomorrow’s Exhibiton

On the Sea and Sky page you’ll see a buch of new paintings that will be exhibiting all weekend (and tomorrow) at the People’s Art exhibition at Stephen’s Green. I’m not sure yet exactly where I’ll be located, just take a walk around the outside of the park and you’ll find me somewhere on the east side! Here’s a quick look at one of the paintings. People’s Art Exhibiton

In two and a bit weeks, from the 24th to the 26th of June, I will be taking part in the People’s Art exhibition at Stephen’s Green in Dublin. The exhibition will feature paintings from loads of other Irish artists of various styles so it’s bound to have something for everyone. It’s an outdoor exhibition with paintings hanging on the railings all around the green…very handy for a quick look if you’re just passing by.

I’ll be exhibiting a bunch of new seascape paintings which will be for sale. Photos and prices will be available on the website ahead of the exhibition.
